Embracing Change: How Trying Something New Transformed My Week
From workout challenges to unexpected connections, discover the power of stepping out of your comfort zone.
Hello everyone! I’m back.
I'm not sure if you've been following my Instagram stories, but at the start of the year, I began sharing my weekly intentions twice a week. This practice, which I've done privately for a while, involves setting an intention for the week or weekend and committing to it. I reflect on it in the morning and during my class, then share a quick, raw video about it in my stories. These intentions often mirror what happens that week and help me stay motivated.
I decided to share these intentions publicly and have been amazed by the responses and how people are now sharing their own intentions with me. Keep it up—I love it!
This week, my intention is to "try something new." (See video below)
I kicked off my Monday with a new workout/dance class at Forward Space. Two friends recommended it, and I thought, "Why not?" The class was intense, with cardio, weights, loud music, and dim lighting like a nightclub. Initially, I felt out of place in my pale pink yoga outfit among the dark, party-ready outfits of others. Plus, it had been ages since I last used weights. Surprisingly, I managed to keep up the whole time. I realized I'm stronger than I thought and that I could do it.
This realization is a good reflection of my current life. I've been feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of gaining new clients in the past few weeks. However, trying something new has helped me push through these challenges. That same morning, the other thing I tried was to post a link for a free coaching session in my video. To my surprise, a woman I didn’t know signed up, excited to try something new too! Three birds with one stone: a new workout class, posting a signup link on Instagram, and getting someone to actually click on it and sign up!
This aligns with a phrase my yoga instructor shared a few weeks ago: "Can you reframe that thought?" Before, I thought I could never gain traction on Instagram since I'm not an influencer. Well, I may not be an influencer, but I still got traction, and that felt really good.
My conclusion for today: Be gentle with yourself if you're having a rough time. Try something new or reframe your thoughts.
I'll leave you with a quote from Albert Einstein: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
